- Lot Description
One Chinese scholar's rock or Lingbi stone on a rosewood and basalt stone stand, 19th century. In a dark grey color with a craggy form and a central large aperture. The vertical stone is striated on a diagonal in a manner reminiscent of clouds. The stone tapers smaller as it reaches the bottom and connects with the base. It is held in a tumult of clouds or waves which in turn is supported by a dysmorphic rosewood stand resting on five low feet.

(Without Stand) Stone; height: 27 1/2 in x width 21 in x depth 15 in. Height with stand: 34 in.Condition
Due to the nature of the object we are unable to determine if there are any minute losses to the stone. However, there are no visible large cracks or losses or signs of restoration. Some light dirt/dust in the recessed areas of the stone. Some losses to the plaster base. One side of the rosewood skirting that surrounds the plaster base is missing. No other losses to the rosewood base; light wear throughout.
