A circus programme in avant-garde style dedicated to the thirty-five anniversary (1898-1933) of the famous Russian clown Vitaly Lazarenko.

Vitaly Lazarenko (Лазаренко Виталий Ефимович) 1890 - 1939. A circus artist, clown, and satirist, acrobat-jumper. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1933).
He was born in the village of Alexandro-Grushevskaya in Donbas. His father was a miner; died when his son was 8 years old. After that, Vitaly went to the fair circus. He became interested in clowning and acrobatics, especially jumping over obstacles.
In 1914, as a clown-jumper was admitted to the Moscow Circus of Nikitin Brothers, where he worked for several seasons.
In 1918, with his small troupe began to act in the Civil War. He read the satirical monologs, jumping through military wagons and regimental kitchen.
Return to Moscow in the 1920's he became a clown-publicist, clown- tribune of the Revolution, and in fact, creates a new genre of clownery.
At demonstrations on May 1 and November 7, he was walking on huge stilts with a megaphone in hand, shouting slogans, poems and actual jokes of that time.
Mayakovsky wrote for him poetic monologs and play-agitation "World Championship of the Class Struggle" with elements of slapstick, parody.
In the time of the NEP Lazarenko little confused. There were pessimistic notes, the theme of death, lack of faith in the future in his monologs.
