Tobacco Factory "Asmolov and Co" - is the largest tobacco factory in the southern part of Russia, which began its work in the middle of the XIX century.
Of the hundreds of tobacco factories pre-revolutionary Russia to the present day through a historical storm remained very few. One of them - is "Trading House Asmolov and Co" (now "Donskoy Tabak").
This factory was founded by merchant Vasily Ivanovich Asmolov in 1857. The man with the amazing ability to work and the makings of a great organizer, V.I.Asmolov and his companion, an expert on tobacco production merchant G.I.Shushpanov managed in the short term to bring the factory to a decent standard. At the same time, thanks to the excellent quality and reasonable price, its products are sold all over Russia from the Baltic provinces, and to Siberia. The factory was awarded by the emperor and became a "supplier of the court of His Imperial Majesty", received silver and gold medals at various exhibitions, including international ones.
In 1881, after the death of V.I.Asmolova factory passed to his brother Vladimir. When it has expanded the range of products: manufactured tobacco 3 grades and cigarettes. In accordance with the technological advances of the time at the factory constantly bought and updated production machines.
In 1912, Vladimir departs from the factory management, and "Trade House Asmolov and Co" was reorganized into Joint Stock Company Tobacco Factory "Asmolov and Co", which immediately acquires two other Rostov tobacco factory - "Partnership YS Kushnarev "and Tobacco Factory of the Trading House" Brothers Aslanidi ".
Under Soviet rule, the production was named the Don State Tobacco Factory (DSTF). Without fail, Rostov Tabachkov worked even during the Great Patriotic War. In 1992 the factory was transformed into the open joint stock company - "Don tobacco".
