Provenance: Harry Ryan, single owner.
Originally purchased from Giant Music at 110 W. Broad Street in Falls Church, Virginia in 1960 (closed in early 1978), when Harry Ryan graduated from High School for $320. Harry played in his local band the “Blue Notes” throughout
the late 50s and early 60s, including appearances on WTTG’s Milt Grant Show.
Subsequently lent guitar to his friend and well-known guitarist Danny Gatton who reportedly changed the strings and tuning knobs before returning to Harry.
Condition
Original finish, evidence of slight fading. Neck and headstock original. Bridge
Volume Potentiometer, number 134839, dates to the 39th week of 1958, significant fingernail wear on the 1st and 2nd frets continuing but fading to the 7th fret. Replaced rhythm neck pickup with Gibson Patent No, other pickup missing label. Evidence of re-soldering from pickup replacement. Output jack cover possibly replaced, however original Switchcraft jack present. Serial number on neck shows a possible ”2” stamp indicating a minor finish flaw and a factory
designation as “second”. Replaced tuning knobs. Case from 1955 Gold Top does not support the neck sufficiently due to different neck angles between the models.
