Early Midget Car racing photo album, an excellent album documenting early Midget Car open wheel racing scene, twenty-six pages containing sixty-eight original silver gelatin photographs, all with captions in black ink, includes many photos of the race cars and their drivers at the Reading Fairgrounds race track, and Sanatoga Speedway. Racers featured in the album include Joie Chitwood (spelled Joey in book) who was involved in dirt track racing in the mid '30s and became a world renowned daredevil with his own show, Joie Chitwood Thrill Show; Henri Guerand, who began racing sprint and midget cars in 1933, made his debut Indy Car circuit appearance at Syracuse in 1938, and was killed in 1939 at the Nutley Velodrome; Al Cusick, who drove for Gustav Shumacher in the 1930's, and qualified for the second Vanderbilt Cup; Walt Ader, who began racing Midget Cars in Pennsylvania in 1936 and won at Reading race track in 1947 and Atlanta's Lakewood Park oval in 1947; Jack Moon, active through the 1930's and after WWII on Pennsylvania tracks; Chet Gardner, winner of the 1933 Midwest AAA Sprint Car Championship and was twice named "Southern Dirt Racing King", and competed in 1930 and 1938 Indy 500, killed during time trials at Flemington Fair Speedway while swerving to avoid a child on the track; a photo of Wilbur Shaw in 1939, the year he won his second Indy 500 race.
