Cabinet card photograph of W. C. Tuttles Belfast, Maine photography studio after it was burned in a fire on July 12, 1885, with ladders running from the street to the fourth floor, as well as across adjoining rooves, the scene includes multiple signs, above the third floor there is a large sign that reads W. C. Tuttles Photograph Rooms, on the first floor is a sign for Collins Fish and Oysters, as well as two signs for a Boots and Shoes business, one sign with a boot trade sign hanging off of the end. The Telegraph Building fire destroyed Tuttles 3rd floor photography studio, as well as his 2nd floor organ business. William Tuttle was born in Fairfield, Maine in 1835. He joined the Union Army in 1861 as a musician, and was promoted to Drum Major and principal musician in 1862. Included are three cabinet card portraits from W. C. Tuttles studio. All photos 6 1/2" x 4 1/4".
