Horace Bundy---painter of portraits, genre, and animals---was born on July 22, 1814 in Hardwick, VT and died in 1883 in Concord, NH. He was basically a self-taught, itinerant artist who started his career decorating sleighs and then went on to painting portraits of northern New Englanders.
As many artists of his day, Bundy went to live and work in the new, thriving industrial city of Lowell, Massachusetts. In 1837, just one year after Lowell was incorporated as a city, Bundy married Louisa Lockwood. A few years after their marriage the Bundys moved to Springfield, VT and lived in a house built for them by Louisa's father.
Please ask all questions prior to bidding, additional photos and condition reports are available for all lots. Lot descriptions and condition reports represent the informed opinion of Peterborough Auctions, but do not serve as a guarantee. The absence of a condition report does not guarantee excellent condition or imply an object is free of defects. Many old frames are delicate and prone to loss from handling and shipping and we can not guarantee frames to be in the same condition as when photographed. Within a reasonable margin, all weights and measurements should be considered approximate.
Pick Up/Shipping: Peterborough Auctions has limited space and a busy schedule. Buyers are asked to make timely arrangements to pick up, or to arrange shipping of purchased lots. Designated pickup hours will be posted for the two weeks following each auction, after which all pickups are by appointment only. Buyers of large lots or buyers with multiple lots on their invoice are encouraged to schedule an appointment. Lots left in our gallery for 30 days without communication of arrangements are subject to storage charges ($5 per day, per lot); after 60 days these lots will be deemed abandoned and disposed of as seen fit by Peterborough Auctions.
Peterborough Auctions does not directly ship any lots sold at our auctions, but works with a trusted and reliable shipping partner in Peter at KaSa CMT, Inc. located right down the road here in Peterborough NH. He provides excellent services using FedEx, UPS, and the USPS. They can be reached via email at peter@kasacmt.com (preferred method is email) or at 603-784-5327. Please contact them directly for shipping quotes and shipping payment. The buyer is responsible for contacting KasaCMT after their invoice is paid in full and requesting shipping services, we do not contact them on your behalf. They will pick up your item(s) after your invoice is paid in full.
Certain lots are subject to in house shipping quotes in an effort to expedite the process. In this case, shipping costs will be added to the invoice total. Lots will be shipped to the address on the invoice once payment is received. It is the responsibility of the buyer to update their address or inform us of an alternate address BEFORE making payment as the quoted shipping process is automated. We are not responsible for any additional fees to redirect a flat rate delivery.
