Color screenprint 'Untitled' from 'The Basque Suite' by Robert Motherwell (1915-1991). Publisher was Marlborough Graphics (New York). Printer was Chris Prater, Kelpra Studio, London. Reference: Robert Motherwell The Complete Prints 1940-1991 Catalogue Raisonné, Siri Engberg/Joan Banach, pg. 112. 'Robert Motherwell is unquestionably one of the most significant American artists of the twentieth century. Like the other Abstract Expressionists, Motherwell rejected conventional realism. Instead he was interested in exploring a reality that went beyond the recognizable image. Motherwell had a particular fascination and preference for working with paper. He also felt that his involvement with printmaking was just as important and vital to his work as his collages or paintings on canvas. Motherwell's first major retrospective was held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1965. Since then, he has been honored with retrospectives by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, among many others.' {source: askart} (Key Word Search: Helen Frankenthaler, Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Hans Hofmann, Adolph Gottlieb)

Shipping/Pick-up/Storage: We will assist customers in obtaining shipping quotes and with the shipping process after the auction is completed. If you would like to obtain a shipping quote prior to the auction, please contact us by phone or email for a list of shippers, or contact your own shipper (we do not pack or ship items for insurance reasons, and any shipping list provided is only provided as a service to our clients; we do not endorse any of these shipping companies). We will not obtain shipping estimates prior to the auction, but we highly recommend that bidders obtain shipping quotes prior to bidding.
Final arrangements regarding shipping, and costs associated with shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. Shipping is a contract between the buyer and the shipper. Palm Beach Modern Auctions is not a party to the shipping contract.

Please call us the day before pick-up. If a shipper is picking the items up, please e-mail us a short note giving us permission to release the items to your shipper.
