Whaleman Scrimshawed Antique Whalebone Cribbage Board, circa 1818, triangular single piece of panbone, scalloped skirt with three lead ball feet. Inscribed underneath: Ship Cretan - May 7th 1818 Perth. The Brig Cretan was built in Venice for the French Navy and launched in 1807 as Nettuno. She was captured by HMS Unite and taken into service by the Royal Navy as HMS Cretan. She served in the Mediterranean until 1814 and was sold and became a whaling vessel.
