1935 Ford Model 48-790 "Woody" Station Wagon, full off-frame restoration with approximately 700 miles since the restoration.
The model that vaulted Ford ahead of Chevrolet in the pre-war Era. Frequently kept on summer estates, hotels and resorts, this car coined the term "Station Wagon". While roughly 4,500 were built in 1935, very few remain today.
This particular example was originally acquired on Nantucket Island from a local Estate and had a thorough body-off restoration in 2001 which included new paint, a new leather interior, a mechanical rebuild, and preservation of the all original maple and birchwood paneling. The underside is in pristine condition. This Deluxe Trim model features chrome trim around the grill, windshield and hood vents.
The 3.6L (221ci) V8 runs smoothly, quietly and cool with the addition of an all aluminum radiator and electric fan. The original 3-speed manual transmission was replaced with an automatic for drivability purposes. The electrical system was updated to 12 Volts and the brakes were upgraded to hydraulic assisted drums. The vehicle recently had a complete oil change service as well as a new battery installed.
Various documents and pictures of the restoration will be made available to the winning bidder as well as the original instruction book that came with the car.
