Published by N. Currier, 152 Nassau St. New York.
Drawn on the stone by O. Knirsch.
Lithograph handcolored, 1853.
First state with gold sleigh, the second state had a red sleigh.
The print, which was produced by the staff of N. Currier’s publishing house as a Christmas gift to Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel Currier. It depicts Nathaniel Currier and his wife in their favorite sleigh. Nathaniel was so pleased with the image he added it to the collection of images offered by the firm.
This is without a doubt the most famous Currier & Ives image ever produced, and a recgonizable image of the holidays in America.

THIS LOT IS FRAMED, BUT CAN BE SHIPPED UNFRAMED. Color on the framed image is off.
Condition
Good condition and color, save for old mat line in margins. It was decided not to clean the mat line because the color is so vibrient and beautiful. Cleaning would weaken the color and the mat line can be matted out so it is not visiable. One of the most beautiful impression of this important print we have seen.
