Biografía: Carlos Mérida (Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, 2 de diciembre de 1891 - Ciudad de México, 21 de diciembre de 1984) fue un pintor y escultor guatemalteco, naturalizado mexicano. Formó parte del muralismo mexicano, pero desde una perspectiva abstracta y geométrica, a diferencia del estilo narrativo y figurativo de los grandes maestros de dicha corriente,​ integrando arte plástico dentro de la arquitectura en una fusión permanente entre los cánones occidentales del arte y elementos del arte mesoamericano. Su vida creativa se desarrolló entre Guatemala y México. Biography: Carlos Mérida (Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, December 2, 1891 - Mexico City, December 21, 1984) was a Guatemalan painter and sculptor, naturalized Mexican. He was part of Mexican muralism, but from an abstract and geometric perspective, unlike the narrative and figurative style of the great masters of that current, integrating plastic art within architecture in a permanent fusion between Western canons of art and elements of the Mesoamerican art. His creative life developed between Guatemala and Mexico.
