- Lot Description
Possibly Nicole Freres, ca. 1870, six-song music box featuring a Gothic Revival pierced screen inset with a gouache scene of Milan, 170 combs with all teeth intact, stamped with the serial number 9548, the wooden case inlaid with flowers
Mechanism has not been cleaned, moves sluggishly but does work, appears that all the pins on the cylinder are intact
The songs listed are: 1) 'Ai nostri monti ritorneremo' from Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi; 2) 'Mira, o Norma' from Norma by Vincenzo Bellini; 3) 'Brindisi' from La Traviata by Verdi; 4) 'The Guard's Waltz' by Daniel Godfrey; 5) 'Bientot' from Lucia di Lammermoor by Gaetano Donizetti; 6) 'Maffio' from Lucrezia Borgia by Donizetti
