Description: THE HOLY BIBLE: OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT The Old and New Testaments translated from Latin into French by theologians at the University of Louvain, as demonstrated by the following epistolary, a pioneering physician of Icelle, with a Françoise translation of the Latin text of M. The author is Iean Harlemius, Doctor in ladicte Universite, of the Jesus Company. Large folio, measuring 10.5 by 16" (41 x 28 cm) and measuring 5 1/4" in thickness, Lyon, Symphorien Beraud & Estienne Michel, 1585. The Old Testament is divided into two sections, numbered 637 and 504, and the New Testament is divided into two sections, numbered 295 and 51. Both the New Testament and the Second Volume of the Holy Bible (Psalms + Maccabees – 2) feature title pages and unique pagination. General title in red and black. worn and accompanied with engravings in the first volume of the Old Testament. A few pages have margins that are broken. The spine has raised bands that are adorned with gold titles and fleurons. The elegantly restored full leather binding still has some original remnants on the front and back covers.
