Featured in this lot we have a Central Arms Company double barrel side by side shotgun chambered in 12 gauge shotgun that is marked Wells Fargo Express. This hammer shotgun displays two 20 7/8" long round barrels with middle rib, walnut stock, double trigger system, break action, and hammer actions. This shotgun is a Trade Brand gun meaning it was manufactured by Crescent Fire Arms Company for Central Arms Co to sell as a wholesale sporting goods dealer. The shotgun was manufactured between the 1890's and 1930, unfortunately, due to Crescent Fire Arms Company's records being destroyed in 1943, we have no exact date of manufacture. This shotgun displays a badge marked with Wells Fargo on the stock and stamped "WELLS FARGO 23 EXPRESS 1892" with the wood around the badge reading "W F & Co FAN FRAN 23" on the right side and "W. F. & Co S. F. CAL 23 ARMS-AMMO WF & Co EX AGENT" with a Wells Fargo Property stamp as well on the left. The frame is marked on the left side reading "CENTRAL ARMS CO. ST. LOUIS. MO.". The shotgun shows fair mechanical condition with working hammer actions and functional double triggers. The shotgun shows good overall condition for its age with wear and damage across the piece consistent with age and use with the fore grip showing signs of repair and missing the release lever. The shotgun weighs 6lbs 12oz. Serial Number: 193998. Wells Fargo marks could likely be later added. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
