Billy Sullivan has been exhibiting nationally and internationally since 1971. The Brooklyn-born artist who received his BFA from the School of Visual Arts, NY is known for his colorful and casually intimate paintings and drawings that offer a window into his personal life. His artwork is collected by prominent museums and institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts, Parrish Art Museum, Norton Museum, Portland Museum of Art in Maine, and The Denver Art Museum among other public and private collections. Sullivan's work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions. His most recent include: Muses, kaufmann repetto, Milan (2019); Love Letters, Rental Gallery, East Hampton (2018); kaufmann repetto, New York (2016); Summer Diaries, Ille Arts, Amagansett (2015); Blush, Galerie Sabine Knust, Munich (2014); Time after Time, Freymond-Guth Fine Arts, Zurich (2014); and Bird Drawings, Glen Horowitz Bookseller, East Hampton (2012). In addition, Sullivan was featured in the 2019 exhibition Nicolas Party: Pastel at the Flag Art Foundation, New York as well as the 2006 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Sullivan lives and works in New York where he also teaches.
