One three ring binder full of Civil War related ephemera. Includes a tattered and tape repaired Certificate for Thomas Miller a Private in Co. F Twenty-Fourth Regiment U.S. Colored Troops. March 1865. A small archive from Dr. C.O. Johnson, Asst. Surgeon, 5th Army Corps (Bracket's Battalion) Pennsylvania. Others.
Together with a small but nice group of early American ephemera to include a Harvard College Lottery ticket for the building of another Hall for the use of students, dated Boston, July 13, 1772. In excellent unused condition. Four complete and two partial tickets for use on the Hartford & New Haven Turnpike. Prices for passing one gate for a coach, a chaise or two wheeled wagon, a sleigh, or a horse and rider. Late 18th or early 19th century. One Revolutionary War related receipt for payment of Ł19/4/6 to Captain Asa Benton dated Hartford Feby. 27th, 1778. Benton was a guard at the Hartford Jail in 1776. With his signature, and signatures of 3 other officials. One partially printed document from the War Department Revolutionary Claim, for Charles Powers of New Hampshire, who was a Private in the War. For a pension of $40 per year. Dated 1839 at the War Office and signed by J.R. Poinsett, Secretary of War. Poinsett served from March 1837-March 4, 1841. The seal is intact. The document is on the front of a bi-fold sheet, and is nearly separated along the horizontal fold. One partially printed very early License for a vehicle (a Coachee), issued to Thomas Doughterty, esq. of Washington, DC. The license is dated the twenty-first day of February, 1817 and signed by Wm. Herritt DC (Deputy Commisioner?).
Condition: Expected antique ephemeral condition, which may include stains, tears, and other imperfections. Most pieces in very good condition.

All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items. Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Please note that all first-time buyers that wish to pick items up in person must pay with cash.

All purchases must be picked up from our location within 14 days, no exceptions. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.
Items not picked up within 60 days of the auction date will be considered in default and become the property of New England Auctions.
