- Lot Description
China Trade, Canton, ca 1800-10. China Trade hardwood bow-front tambour dressing stand. The stand is fitted with a hinged box lid in two parts, which when opened, reveal a top panel with circular cut-outs for a wash basin and bottles. The bow-front contains a sliding tambour door above two drawers. With original brass fittings including side handles. (lacking interior pull-up shaving glass).
H 35 in. W 19 in. D 21 in.
Provenance: N. David (Nino) Scotti, China Trade Scholar, Providence, Rhode Island.A closely related dressing stand was brought to Rhode Island by Edward Dexter in 1805, now in the collection of the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, illustrated in Carl Crossman, The Decorative Arts of the China Trade, 1991, p. 238, no.126.
Condition: A few minor age cracks and imperfections.

All shipping is outsourced. All buyers and shippers must come prepared with appropriate packing materials and help for heavy items. Our staff will not be available to help move heavy items. If payment is made by check, items will be held 7 business days before an item is released for shipping.
Items can be picked up in person or by a shipper at 14 Business Park Drive - Unit 5, Branford, CT - BY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please contact the gallery 24 hours in advance to make an appointment. Pickup can be scheduled for Monday through Friday between 9am - 3pm beginning the Monday after the date of the auction. Purchased items that have been paid for but not picked up or shipped from our auction facility within 14 days of the auction will be stored at a rate of $10 per day per lot for furniture and larger items and $5 per day per lot for smaller items. A moving fee of $25 going into storage and $25 going out of storage will be added. Storage fees and late fees must be paid before items are released. There are no exceptions.
