Mettlach Style beer stein as a presentation or trophy for a Yale College Track and field or athletic event. On the pewter lid is engraved "Y A A Fall Games Nov and 1895 First Prize 120 Hurdle" on the bottom is stamped "made in Germany" and "Villeroy & Boch" stamped on the bottom is "Viettlisch" "Gegenn Chieldung Geschutze", 1526" and "II", on the side near the top is a 1/2" line with 1/2 T stamped. the decoration on the face of the mug reads, "guten aften Dem", the thumb lever for the lid has an eagle with the words "United States", the pottery is in good condition 6 1/4" tall, 3 1/2" wide and deep 5 1/2"
