Description
The iconic artist Verner Panton brought his unique sense of color, form and the function of light, to the world of contemporary and Bauhaus or Scandinavian design, in the latter part of the 20th century. His main focus was on how lighting, form and color influence their surroundings. He specifically created vintage rugs and art pieces that would respond to the light in a room in a certain way. This unique soft colored vintage Shag rug is an example of his experimentation with design and light.
In this neutral colored Verner Panton rug, Panton used a whole slew of softer neutral earthy colors and alternating ways. This is how Panton was able to create the magnificently artistic soft gradient affect, as well as the artistic tension between the design elements themselves, as well as how they relate to the soft cream color of the field. By using only neutral colored squares, he created a fascinating textile art piece that plays off both the presence as well as the absence of color and all light.
The three simple geometric square shape designs on the one side of the rug are softly juxtaposed against the cream background. The concept is simple…. this Verner Panton textile art piece creates a subtle sense of movement through the play of geometric forms in soft neutral colors against the sea of cream.
This geometric yet simplistic mid century modern rug design is warm, calming and soft. It is the perfect area rug for accentuating geometric forms and furniture in a room. Verner Panton’s textile patterns and mid century modern design furniture, were developed to work together in a set that reflected the shapes and colors throughout the furnishings and room accessories. However, this Verner Panton neutral and geometric rug from Scandinavia would work well in pretty much any modern design that centers on simple form and colors.
The soft earthy squares add a warm feel that can break up an otherwise cold or more neutral modern interior design. They draw the eye when you walk into the room and create a point of interest. Subtle contrast geometric patterns work well against solid colors. This art rug would go well with any retro, mid century modern, industrial, modern or contemporary interior design that needs a little bit of class. This magnificently beautiful vintage Scandinavian area rug that was designed by the iconic Verner Panton, will effortlessly fit and work well with the modern sense of aesthetic and a revival of the use of simple shapes and color in interior design.
