An attention grabbing red dominates this Turkish rug, the vibrant hue setting off the solid green, blue, black, white and yellow that create the pattern. Staggered and regularly spaced diamonds with jagged edges fill the main scarlet field, each row shifting in color, creating a theme symmetrical about the center horizontal axis. A green band rests against this bright color to enclose the area of this almost antique rug, its edges zigzagging and its width filled by irregular but colorful hexagons. A black and white border surrounds this trimming, strongly angular lines suggesting a picket fence spaced by gates that contain complex barbell forms in every hue of this vintage Kilim rug.
The motifs are bold and angular, as one typically finds in traditional Turkish carpets from centuries past. It makes use of a traditional color scheme with a red background and a darker border. The designs have little detail, allowing the designer who created this piece to place the emphasis on shape and line. The design has a semblance of symmetry, but it also has the abstract, free flowing rug design of primitive tribe rugs.
Brimming with so much excitement, color, pattern and energy, this flat weave rug is magnificent work of art. It is the kind of rug that will attract attention all on its own but will not take away from any of the other pieces in the room. It is a truly happy vintage rug that is sure to put a smile on the face of whoever comes across it. For those of us who love color and get excited when they see unique designs and patterns, this vibrantly colored and finely woven vintage Sarkoy Turkish Kilim rug will make a phenomenal choice.
