Antique Turkish Oushak Carpet, Country of Origin: Turkey, Circa Date: 1900 – Dreamlike shades of green and warm yellow-gold define this ethereal Oushak carpet. Woven by hand in Usak at the height of the city’s recognition as the crown jewel of Turkish rug production, this striking work begins with a crenellated fence pattern of rich green and pale orange. The fence frames a simple, delicate floral motif against a background of soft white. A narrow border of vivid pale orange follows, framing the striking heart of this lovely piece. Symmetry is evident in every fine detail, forming a design rich in significant tribal symbolism and a striking work of art steeped in geometric grace. Masterful gradiation of hue, flawless symmetry, and the elegant geometry unique to the most masterful of Oushak carpets ensure a striking artistic statement.
