Beautiful Small Antique Persian Mahi Fish Design Malayer Rug, Country Of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1920 – Vibrant colors and skillfully placed points of contrast define this stunning antique Persian Malayer Rug. Featuring strong, midnight blue elements that stand out against the gentle yellow, elegant pink and stony blue, the artist masterfully chose colors and mahi fish design patterns that complement each other to create an unparalleled degree of style and presence. Several borders frame each other, with larger, thicker shapes leading to thinner ones to create contrast in form as well as in color in this beautiful antique Persian rug. Leaves and petals dance along the interior of each border, almost as if driven by a graceful gust of wind. At the center of the antique rug is a gorgeous mandala surrounded by a vibrant field of flowers, stems and other natural elements, featuring clear points of contact that create a network effect.
