Description
This mesmerizing antique Persian Khorassan rug is characterized by its unique and tranquilizing charm. The middle portion displays an intriguing linear design, and a glittering pattern of visual sequin like designs occupies the border layers. Upon closer examination the so called sequin design, which we see in the borders as well as the central medallion, are actually repeated Star of David patterns.
This intricate Persian carpet features a simplistic color pallet. Rich, warm earthy brown hues, complemented by a neutral tan color is used in some of the border layers. Navy blue almost black is used for the Stars of David designs. These Judaic motifs are arranged in a beautiful fashion along the widest border and these same star shapes are used in variations of color and size in both the central medallion as well as one of the narrow guard borders.
The central field of this luxurious antique Persian Khorassan rug is an artistic collage of zebra like striped inspired patterns. These linear field patterns are comprised of tiny navy blue and brown floral decals on a cool grey blue background. The lovely enigmatic stripes create a zigzag image as they are drawn together along the mid line of this beautiful room size rug.
