This is a seldom seen style of diving helmet design used by the CE Heinke Company in London, England. Heinke was purchased by Siebe Gorman in the 1960s, resulting in some helmets featuring parts from both firms. This style of helmet is referred to as a three bolt four light Harbor Helmet. This model of helmet is quite scarce, which is why a small quantity were reproduced in the 2010s. We believe this helmet is likely one of those relatively high quality replicas.

While somewhat crude in design, the Heinke stamps and design are consistent with other known examples. The bonnet and breastplate are secured via three bolts. The copper bonnet has a uniquely designed communication fitting, which is clearly stamped HEINKE LONDON DIVERPHONE. The air fitting also features Heinke London on it. The glass is intact, as well as the port guards. The faceplate utilizes two hinged wing nuts to open and secure it shut. Inside the bonnet the air vent, and rubber encased communications reproducer are present. Tinning inside the bonnet is present. The inner brass port rings are also visible. The communications elbow does have the internal connections intact.

The breastplate is much simpler in construction. It does mate up to the bonnet correctly. The neck ring gasket is no not present. Of obvious note is the Siebe Gorman ID plate. It is our opinion that this plate is not original.

Overall the helmet has a very nice consistency to the patina on the copper body and brass hardware. The helmet weighs approximately 40 pounds and is free of any major condition issues.

Since we are selling this helmet as a replica, we will not be including a Certificate of Authenticity with it. The display stand shown in the photos is not included. The option to purchase one after the auction will be provided.
