Arguably the first helmet of the 21st Century that is already a classic collectible no longer being made.
Leszek Gorski was a commercial diver in Poland during the 1980s. During this time, the Communist aligned country was a very difficult place to purchase, find and use modern diving equipment. He took it upon himself to design, and manufacture, a modern, safe, and helmet. In 1984 Gorski immigrated to the United States, to pursue diving and continued designing his diving helmet concept. The result of his entrepreneurial spirit in 1994 was his first design and model, and in 1997, the first tested prototype. The result of all his hard work was the stainless-steel Gorski G2000SS that came to the market in 2004.
The G2000SS was notable for its stainless-steel shell, very durable design, and ease of service and use. The first helmets were made by hand, with small differences to each one sent out. By 2011 Gorski Inc was purchased by Aqua Lung. The helmet was added to the Aqua Lung product line, and Mr. Gorski to the team. The result of the collaboration was the updated G3000SS, which is also the last model to be made. Sadly, Leszek Gorski passed away in 2021.
This helmet is the G2000SS. Brand new, this model sold for nearly $9000. In an industry dominated by Kirby Morgan helmets, the Gorski is truly a collector’s dream. Visually, it is a stunning helmet. These were made in relatively low numbers, used worldwide, and seldom entered the collector market. The unique design and stainless steel body have already secured this helmet as a modern-day collector’s piece.
This helmet was a working helmet that was fully functional and serviced up until 2023. It features serial number 087. The external surface is in excellent condition with only minimal scratches from light use. Internally all the components are present and in excellent condition. A Kirby Morgan neck dam in new condition has been installed. We are selling this helmet as a collectible, which should not be used unless serviced and certified.
