The famed Italian company Galeazzi is known worldwide for their diving helmets, observation chambers, one-atmosphere suits along with other high-quality precision products. Galeazzi produced a limited number of dive watches to commemorate some of its most successful products. The very first watch, limited to only 100 pieces, features the classic Marina diving helmet!
Not only is the watch an impressive piece to wear on any occasion, but it is also rated for a maximum diving depth of 300 meters. Inside the movement is an ultra-reliable Citizen mijota 8215. A sky-blue dial with the Galeazzi logo below the 12 o’clock position is the first striking detail. To the left of the 3 o’clock position is a date window. Above the 6 o’clock it says “WATERPROOF 300M; DITA ROBERTO GALEAZZI; APPARECCHI PER LAVORI SUBACQUEI; A QUALSIASI PROFONDITA”. An adjustable bezel with engraved diving scale numbers (a must for any dive watch), luminous hands, hour markers, and bezel marker are present. The watch case diameter is 40 mm with a thickness of 14 mm, a very traditional size for men’s dive watch.
The underside of the watch is just as impressive as the front. It features a transparent exhibition case back made of sapphire anti-scratch glass. This provides a unique look into the workings of the watch. Also etched into the glass is the Galeazzi Marina diving helmet! The surrounding ring references the helmet model as well as the watch's unique number out of 100 made. This watch is #18. Other very distinct and special features including the Galeazzi logo on the crown, the logo on the high-quality genuine leather strap and Galeazzi etched into the brass strap buckle as well.
The watch will be sent to you in a custom wood box with the Galeazzi logo burned into the lid. Inside you will find the watch carefully wrapped in a black velvet bag with a special Galeazzi 50 years pin attached. A small booklet about the history of Galeazzi (printed in Italian) and the warranty card (has expired). The watch has been worn. There is a bit of wear evident on the original leather strap. There is some tarnishing on the case that could possibly the polished out. Overall, the watch is one that can be appreciated in any collection or worn.
