Nice original Yokohama diving helmet. This is the classic 4 light (window) 12 bolt design. Made for the American market, this helmet dates to the 1970s time period. The helmet is complete with all 12 wing nuts, four brails, 4 brail shims, locking pin, plexiglass windows, internal speaker, air pipe and exhaust button. The back of the bonnet still retains a non-return valve and communications wire. Approximately 90% of the original tinning remains. Wonderful evidence of use on breastplate and bonnet. Working dents on top of bonnet and breastplate. Breastplate neck ring is pushed in slightly on the backside. This Yokohama represents one of the last classic copper & brass hardhats used in the commercial diving industry in the late 20th Century. Please refer to detailed photos for overall condition.
This helmet was originally purchased by Divers Academy International and used to train future divers. A lot of professionals learned the trade in this very helmet! Divers Academy JH-1 and DAC-1 are engraved into the breastplate above the ID plate. The certificate of authenticity that will accompany this helmet will include this important provenance.
All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
