Thomas Prichard Rossiter (1818-1871) Portrait of James Brown (1791-1877) oil on canvas, painted in 1856 plaque: James Brown, A member of Chamber of Commerce from 1825, painted by T. P. Rossiter 24" x 20" American frame, circa 1850's restretched and relined Brown was an investment banker and established Brown Brothers & Co. in New York City in 1825. Provenance: Property from Credit Suisse's Americana Collection
