25 1/2" x 20"
This is an extremely rare painting by Jacobus Strijcker (Strycker), prior to this painting there have been only four paintings known to be painted by the artist. These paintings include (1) Self Portrait (which is still owned by the descendants of Jacobus Strijcker (Strycker) and is currently being exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art), (2) Portrait of Jan Strycker (brother of artist) and (3) Portrait of Adriaen van der Donck (both in private collections and have never been offered for sale), and (4) Portrait of Governor Peter Stuyvensant (Currently at the New York Historical Society). It has been said that Jacobus Strycker studied with one of the pupils of Rembrandt (possibly Backer, Bol or Flinck).
