Group of Major General Garret Hopper Striker (1784-1868) articles to include a Trondle (19th century) oil on canvas portrait of General Striker in full navy suit with two star epaulets, signed on right shoulder epaulet: L. Trondle
25" x 31"
To be sold with the original epaulets painted in the painting (lg. 10in.), matching dress belt, spurs, his brass telescope, and Tower U.S. Flintlock rifle and U.S. Navy dress sword with shagreen handle (rifle and sword are said to have belonged to Major General Striker) which possibly belonged to him, also two oil on canvas portraits of woman his wife Elizabeth Bella McDougal Striker (1784-1862) at a young age and an older age.
Lent to the Museum of the City of New York 1952-1972 and valued at the time by the museum for the value of $5,000.
