Attributed Mary Foote (1872-1968) Portrait of John Crosby Brown (1838-1909) oil on canvas, painted in 1914 unsigned Plaque: John Crosby Brown, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce 1894-1896 and 1906-1909, Presented by his family Butler Engraving, Etching and Picture Frames paper label on reverse, marked "Brown". 29" x 23" American frame, 1890's. Brown was a Partner in the investment bank Brown Bros. & Co. and he was a teacher and later member of the Board of Directors for the Union Theological Seminary. Provenance: Property from Credit Suisse's Americana Collection
