Hawkesworth Indenture 1585 (now part of Leeds) impressive manuscript large document on paper for land and possessions which Sir Richard Hawkesworth is involved along with Thomas Waterhouse and Edward Crabtree and others. Of particular interest this document as stated attested by Sir Edmund Anderson. Size 30 x 39cm, in good clean condition. Note: Sir Edmund Anderson (1530-1605), Chief Justice of the Common Pleas under Elizabeth I, Tried Edmund Campion, The Babbington Plotters, sat as one of the panel of judges at the trial of Mary, Queen of Scots. Later tried the Earl of Arundel and the Earl of Essex. Was not always noted for always giving a very fair trial, but gave a quick trial. Stood little nonsense in his Courts, once came down from the bench and disarmed an angry swordsman - Shipping Info
