This is an example of a very rare maker signed on the blade "Lamb W. City". It has the red nail polish No. 50 on the blade and scabbard; this was Bob Abel's trademark when numbering his pieces. He was the first and premier collector of bowie knives in his time. Also in the revered Bill Williamson collection sold in dispersal of his estate after his death. Pictured in Knife Digest in 1974 and in the "Bowie Knives Origin and Development" article by Mr. Williamson. Blade with swedge on both sides. Coffin shaped ivory scales with decorative German silver bird's eye rivets, three to a side; steel S-shaped crossguard, beautifully mellowed ivory scales, coffin shaped pommel. Leather scabbard with engraved silver throat; replaced engraved German silver tip. Blade in good condition; scratches from cleaning, modern sharpening marks to edge. Some light pitting and black spotting. Overall: 12 - 3/4" L.
