Overall length 16-1/4", blade length 11-1/2". Circa 1840. Stamping on blade "Rose New York". Rose is one of the most revered and sought after of American makers. Blade with gentle clip, swedge on each side. Lightly pitted in spots over all blade, medium pitting in spots, black steel discoloration overall, modern sharpening marks on edge of blade, very tiny tip piece missing. Trademark Rose steel crossguard with ball finials. All German silver mounts. Ivory handle beautifully mellowed with nice age cracks, name plate inset on each side. Pommel is one of the Rose signature designs. Leather scabbard with about 40% decorative red leather peeled. Button frog missing at throat mount. Tip mount with fancy scalloped borders. Overall: 16-1/4"L.
