This piece is designed in what is known as the New Orleans style. Circa 1860. Overall length of 7-1/4", blade length 4-1/2". Ivory handle, stamped on the top "12". Beautiful mellow aging with pleasant age cracks. One long chip on the top edge of the handle. Reinforced blade with medial ridge down each side. Blade is in very fine condition. 80% of the original polish. German silver scabbard. Also stamped with "12". Belt hook attached. Fancy New Orleans style tip to scabbard. This tip was designed so that a cord could be wrapped around it and the scabbard tied down under a sleeve or vest upside down, ready for the knife to be pulled. Overall: 7-1/4"L.
