Overall length opened is 12-3/4", and blade length is 6". Circa 1845. Spear point blade with swedge on both sides half the length of blade. Beautiful deeply etched panel "Self Protector" in banner form, framed by etched vine and leaf designs. Stamped on haft by maker "S. C. Wragg 25 Furnace Hill Sheffield". Tip of blade is missing, and there is a large fairly new rust spot rear of right side of blade and top. Modern sharpening marks are on both sides of blade. 40% of the original polish is turning grey. All German silver mounts. Cross guard of classic leaf design for large folders. Horse head with solider and cannon pommel. Ivory scales are a nice mellow color, enhanced with six rivets on each side. Left side has a large name plate. Lockback mechanism works well. Overall: 12-3/4" L.
