Overall length with blade open is 12-1/2", and blade length is 5-3/8". Circa 1840. Clip point blade, swedge on both sides three quarters the length of the blade. Stamped on haft "Manufactured by W. & S. Butcher Sheffield". Blade in nice condition, with one nick on sharpened edge, and some minor pitting. Has been polished. Classic large floral cross guard. All mounts German silver. Ivory scales with beautiful mellowed color. Scale on left has one piece replaced and chips missing where it goes into the cross guard. Six decorative rivets on each side and long rectangular name plate on left side. Coffin hilt with full alligator. This is a bit more rare than the half horse, half alligator. Lockback mechanism in good condition. Overall: 12-1/2" L.
