Very large knife with overall length 16-1/4" and blade length 12". Circa 1830. Beautifully decorated blade stamped on both sides of the haft "C. Congreve Sheffield" within a raised, chiseled and file created pyramid decoration on both sides, rear of blade. Spear point blade with strong medial ridge down both sides. In fine condition with some minor pitting mostly at tip on both sides. 60% original polish with scratch marks from attempted cleaning. German silver mounts, knife and scabbard. Pleasantly ornate cross guard. Ivory scales, enhanced with four rivets and name shield on each side. Coffin pommel. Ivory grips in fine condition. Scabbard tooled and gold decorated with floral and leaf designs on both sides. 25% of gold still present. Frog missing from throat mount. Both throat and tip have fancy scalloped edges. Scabbard covered in black leather. One piece on edge is peeling but still present, and can be glued back in place. Overall: 16-1/4" L.
