Beautiful knife made by the revered New York maker Rose. This example illustrates him at his best. Circa 1850. Long elegant clip and swedge on both sides. The swedge is over half the length of the blade. Marked on the haft "Rose New York". Blade in beautiful condition. Has 80% of the original polish. Shows profuse scratches on front third of the blade from careless cleaning, with minor spots of rust. Has German silver mounts and classic Rose cross guard and pommel. One piece rosewood grip enhanced with eight German silver studs and nameplate on each side. Tooled German silver scabbard; tip is missing. Blade length 10" L. Overall: 14 - 1/2" L.
