c. 1882, three-page letter, matted and framed with period photograph of the author, addressed to Steven Massett, a well known San Francisco entertainer, the letter reads in part "I fear that a pressing engagement will prevent my seeing you...Hoping that I will have the pleasure of seeing you before I leave the States", 10"h x 20"w (frame) - PROVENANCE: "The Collection of the Late George P. Elder", Anderson Galleries, NYC, sale 1098, Oct. 15, 1914, lot 573 - NOTES/LITERATURE: Believed to have been written late Oct., 1882 from New York City.
