One electronically tested 18KT white gold ladies cast tanzanite & diamond ring. Condition is new, good workmanship. The featured tanzanite is set within a diamond bezel, supported by a diamond set under gallery and diamond set shoulders, completed by a two millimeter wide band. Trademark is Orianne. Identified with markings of "18K". Containing: One prong set oval mixed cut natural tanzanite, measuring 13.30 x 10.00 x 4.58mm, 11% bulge factor, approximate weight of 4.77ct., clarity is eye clean, type I, medium dark, moderately strong, blue color, (GIA B 6/4), cut is good. Transmitting light with no distortion, transparent. Graded in the setting. Tanzanite is a very rare gemstone that is only found in the country of Tanzania. Tanzanite was originally discovered in 1967. Tiffany & Company, named the stone "Tanzanite" after the country of origin. Tanzanite is found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. This region is inhabited by the Masai tribes-people. The mining area is located just south of the Kenya border near Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tanzanite occurs in colors of gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. The gem is interesting because of its exceptional pleochroism. Rotated in different directions a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color. Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning, and should not be cleaned using this method. Thirty-eight prong set round brilliant cut diamonds, measuring 2.40 - 2.10 x 1.37mm (depth est.), 2.00% GTCF approximate total weight of 38 Stones = 1.71ctw. Graded in the setting.
