Giclee print on paper by listed artist, Sydney Mortimer Laurence (AK, CA, NY, 1865 - 1940), signed in print & titled "The Northern Lights", numbered 145. Art measures 10.5" h x 13.5" w presented in a frame measuring 13" x 16".
Known for his dramatic landscape paintings of Alaska, Sydney Laurence was one of the first professionally trained artists to live in the Alaska Territory. His trademark subject was Mt. McKinley. He was involved in the founding of the American Fine Arts Society. A large traveling retrospective exhibit of his work, "Sydney Laurence, Painter of the North", was held in 1990-1991. He was a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and the Salmagundi Club. Memberships: Royal Society of British Artists; Salmagundi Club; St Ives Art Club. Exhibitions: Royal Society of British Artists, 1890; Paris Salon, 1894; Panama Pacific Exposition, 1915; Ebell Club (LA), 1931; Stendahl Gallery (LA), 1931; Palm Springs Desert Museum, 1991 (retrospective). For these items, we recommend you work with a shipper. Shipping charges are not included in the winning hammer price. If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house. The card that you registered with will be charged for all shipping charges and you will also receive an email with tracking information.
