- Lot Description
"Mount Shasta" etching on paper by listed artists, James David Smillie (NY, CA, 1833 - 1909) and Edward Paxman Brandard (UK, 1819 - 1898). "Entered according to Act of Congress AD 1873 by D. Appleton & Co. in the office of the Librarian of Congress Washington. Art measures 8.5" h x 11.5" w presented in a frame measuring 10" x 13".

James David Smillie helped organize the New York Etching Club, and he was the U.S. representative to supply examples of American etchers' work to the Painters-Etchers Society of London. James David Smillie founded the American Watercolor Society and served as president and treasurer. He also taught classes at the National Academy of Design in 1868 and from 1894 to 1903.

If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house.
