Signed pottery bowl by listed artist, Hal Riegger (CA, NY, 1913-2005). Measures 4"h x 6.25" diameter.
Hal Riegger is known for earthenware stoneware pottery. Riegger began experimenting with raku firing in 1948 and is believed to be one of the first potters to raku fire work in North America. Riegger also experimented with pit firing techniques. In the 1950’s Riegger began making hand built abstract figurative sculptures incorporating mixed media elements, such as metal, fiber, and wood. His exhibitions include: Syracuse Mus. FA, 1934-38, 1939 (prize), 1940-41, 1949 (prize); Robineau mem. exh., Syracuse, 1936 (prize); GGE, 1939; WFNY, 1939; WMAA, 1936; CAD; Phila. Art All., 1940 (solo); West Coast Ceramic Annual, 1948 (prize); European traveling exh. ceramics; AFA traveling exh. California Crafts"; Tampa A (solo)I; Norton Gal. Art, West Palm Beach; Phila. ; Portland, OR; Long Beach, CA; San Fran. Potters Assn., 1956 (prize); Calif. State Fair, 1956 (prize)". Reigger's was a member of the San Francisco Potter's Association & the Florida Craftsmen Association.
We offer in house shipping for the majority of the items that are sold in the auction. The exceptions being furniture, bulk or heavy items like marble statues or extremely fragile items. For these items, we recommend you work with a shipper. Shipping charges are not included in the winning hammer price. If you live over 4 hours from the auction house, we will assume that you would like your items shipped. Please let us know if you do not want them shipped if you are over 4 hours away from the auction house. The card that you registered with will be charged for all shipping charges and you will also receive an email with tracking information.
