Chinese gouache on silk (Mid 20th C). Framed. This beautiful Chinese painting depicts several cranes feeding beside a river bank. Painted with delicate detail and rich color, this piece is a stunning example of Chinese craft. Featuring stunning composition and rich with meaning. The Crane has long been an auspicious symbol and next to the Phoenix is the most important bird in Chinese legends and Chinese art. The Crane is believed to be immortal and is the commonest of the many symbols meaning longevity. It is a very common symbol and is depicted frequently on Chinese paintings within China. Size: 33.5'' x 65.5'', 85 x 166 cm (sight); 46.5'' x 78.5'', 118 x 199 cm (frame).
