Pierce has an MFA from York University and her M.Ed from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a 2022 Mass Cultural Council Artist Fellowship Awardee. Her books and prints have been acquired by Emory, Baylor, and Michigan State Universities, and the University of California Davis. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Art Complex Museum and Casa de las Americas in Havana, Cuba.
