Four Thomas Molesworth Chairs
36" tall, seats are 15" x 15". Chairs from the Legendary Lodge in Seely Lake, MT.
Mowitza Lodge, now known as Legendary Lodge, was built by William A. Clark, Jr.. Along with several smaller cabins, the lodge was built on Salmon lake in 1915 as a family retreat. The retreat features a bowling alley, a shooting gallery, and a mountaintop lookout.
William Clark Jr. died in 1934, and in 1938, Al and Thelma Wertheimer owned and ran the retreat not only as a personal getaway for themselves, but for their close friends in Hollywood. The Wertheimer's were known for their involvement in gambling and entertainment among Hollywood celebrities.
Sometime after 1943, Randolph and Audiss Bohrer purchased the lodge and owned it until 1950 when it was sold to the Catholic Church as a summer youth camp, as it remains today.
It's likely that the Thomas Molesworth chairs were commissioned and used by the Wertheimers during their time as owners of the lodge.
