Jose Vives-Atsara, a native of Spain, fell in love with his new home of San Antonio, Texas, and strived to honor her natural and manmade beauty. Vives-Atsara’s Mission paintings are particularly evocative of the connection between Spain and Texas, which the artist showcases in the dynamic composition of this painting of Mission San Jose. The artist’s Mission paintings are highly desirable for collectors, and this example truly stands out in the large scale of the Mission compared to its surrounding landscape as well as the vertical composition, which is not often seen in the artist’s work.Condition
