The surface of the painting has a semi-gloss sheen and is flat with no visible distortions. The artist’s thin brush strokes and slight impasto are evident on the surface. Areas of cracquelure can be seen with raking light and a pinhole is visible on the verso which are all results of the artist’s painting techniques. The canvas is original and has never been removed from the wood stretcher.
Under UV light, the area of light-colored paint (foreground reflection) has been cleaned with a majority of the surface remaining under an oxidized varnish layer. There are no signs of damage to the surface or canvas. The signature in the lower right is under varnish and is intact and unaltered.
The painting is in original condition with only minor restoration.
